What Does High AMH Mean?
Most fertility content focuses on low AMH. But high AMH is equally important — and equally misunderstood. AMH above 4.0 ng/mL is considered elevated. Above 6.0–8.0 is very high. Above 10 is almost always associated with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) or PMOS (Polycystic/Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — the updated 2026 classification).
High AMH means many follicles — which sounds like good news, and it partly is. But it also means a significantly higher risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) during IVF, which can be dangerous if the stimulation protocol is not adjusted.
