IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) involves placing washed and concentrated sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. It increases the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and improves chances of fertilisation.
IUI is recommended for unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility (low sperm count or motility), ovulation disorders (PCOS), cervical mucus issues, and couples where IVF is not yet needed.
IUI success rates are typically 10–20% per cycle. Success improves with multiple cycles. Most doctors recommend 3–6 IUI cycles before moving to IVF.
Hormone tests, semen analysis, and pelvic scan to confirm IUI is appropriate.
Ultrasound scans track follicle growth. Trigger injection given when follicles are ready.
Semen sample is washed and concentrated in the lab to select the best quality sperm.
Prepared sperm is inserted directly into the uterus using a thin catheter. Takes 5–10 minutes.
Blood test or urine pregnancy test 14 days later to confirm result.
Most fertility specialists recommend 3–6 IUI cycles before progressing to IVF, depending on age and diagnosis. Dr. Prashanthi Reddy will guide you based on your individual situation.
IUI is significantly more affordable than IVF. Please call 97059 93366 or WhatsApp us for current pricing and package details.
IUI is a simple, relatively painless outpatient procedure. Some women may feel mild cramping. No anaesthesia is required.
With stimulated IUI (using fertility drugs), there is a slightly higher chance of twins (5–15%) due to multiple follicle development. Your doctor will monitor closely to reduce this risk.
Yes. IUI can be performed using donor sperm at Mother Hospitals & IVF Center, in compliance with ART Act 2021 regulations.
The actual insemination takes only 5–10 minutes. You'll need to visit the clinic 2–3 times during your cycle for monitoring scans.
